Why hello there lovely people, and Happy New Year!
I think it’s fair to say we all had big dreams for 2021, and yet here we are, navigating yet another lockdown.
I love starting January with some New Year’s Resolutions! Don’t get me wrong, I have broken many a resolution in the past, and no doubt I’ll be breaking some this year too … But I am also hopeful that I have learned from my previous mistakes and have set myself goals which are achievable and more importantly, ones that I feel aligned with.
Now, when I wrote the first draft of this blog, I only had 6 things on my list, but in the last few days I’ve had to add another one … perhaps the most important one of all.
If 2020 has taught us anything is that we should never take anything for granted. Our lives can literally change overnight … and they have, several times in the past few months. Being flexible is key, not only to our success as small business owners (pivot, anyone?) but to our happiness, to our relationships and to our mental health.
So in 2021, I plan to be as flexible as possible. I plan to accept the things I cannot change and change the things I can.
A shiny new website
Well, maybe not completely new, but definitely an updated version of my current website.
Updating my website has been on my list of things to do for several months now, and I was hoping to have it ready by December, ready to launch in 2021. But life does have a habit of getting in the way … A new website is definitely on the cards though, and with it some updated prices too. I have re-worked some of my photography packages to better reflect the needs of my customers.
In view of the situation we all find ourselves in right now, and to help as many small businesses as possible, I have decided to honour my old prices for any photo session booked before the 28th of February 2021. So if you were hoping to book a personal branding photo session with me in the next couple of months, do it soon and take advantage of my 2020 prices.
I am also looking forward to launching my newsletter – another thing that has been carried over from my list of things to do from last year. I am actually really excited about this one. I can’t wait to be able to keep in touch with more of you in a much more personal way. Keep your eyes open for my new subscribe button appearing soon (probably in February).
Now this one is going to be a tough one, I think! I often go through stages of being really organised, and then not at all … if you saw my Instagram post last week, you’ll know that Mark bought me the Perfectly Planned 2021 organiser from Carrie Green, for Christmas this year. It is fabulous. I’ve had many planners over the years, but this one is by far the best one I have ever seen, and I love it!
With the way 2021 has started, I think being organised is going to be more important this year than ever, so let’s hope that this fabulous planner manages to keep me on track.
And my last business goal for 2021 is to collaborate with more local businesses this year and welcome more guest blogs to my website. Last year, I had a blast working together with Gayle Tong from Enrichment Coaching, Julia Britten from JBS Print and Paula Hutchings from Marketing Vision and I’ve really enjoyed sharing their guest blogs with all of you.
Click on the images below if you’d like to be re-directed to the relevant guest blogs.
I have a few more collaborations up my sleeve for 2021 and I am very excited about sharing them with all you over the next few months.
Family and friends
It’s not all about work though … another really important thing I learned in 2020 is that spending time with family and friends is more important now than ever. So one of my goals for 2021 is to spend more quality time with my lovely family, have more fun, go on more adventures (Covid allowing) and create more happy memories.
Gratitude and self-care
And finally, my last two resolutions for 2021 are gratitude and self care. Practicing gratitude is one thing that makes me feel more grounded, more aligned with my purpose and generally happier. I am also committed to looking after myself more … as a mother and partner, it’s easy to fall into a routine where you end up looking after everyone else first, and you don’t have enough time to do things for yourself … so self-care is going on my priority list from now on, whether it’s to read a book, or have a relaxing bath, or having my hair done, or even a spa day (I can’t wait to do this, as soon as Covid allows).
I would love to hear from you with some of your resolutions for 2021, and whether any of them have had to change already since lockdown. Leave your comments below and let me know what you are hoping to achieve.
