A profile picture speaks a thousand words …

A while ago when I was searching for a counsellor, one came highly recommended. I went home and looked her up online before calling to make an appointment. Her website was good, but her profile picture was poor: low quality, dark, blurry. The background suggested (though I may be wrong) that the photo was taken at a party, probably by a friend with a smart phone. Needless to say, I did not book an appointment with her!

Her profile picture failed to make a good first impression. I have no doubt that she is a very good counsellor. Yet her profile picture did not convey the care and approachability that I would have expected from a counsellor. She never had an opportunity to make another first impression and she lost a potential client.

Regardless of what type of business or industry you are in, take some time to think about your profile picture. Look at it through the eyes of someone who has never seen you or met you before. Does it make a good first impression? Does it convey the message that you want it to convey? Is it professional? Is it fairly recent? If the answer to any of these questions is "no", then you are definitely in need of a headshot session.

You'll never have a second chance to create a good first impression.

Headshot photography is by no means a new concept; it has existed for many years. But never has it been more important than it is now ... With the appearance of social media sites like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, profile pictures speak a thousand words on your behalf.

And this is where a good headshot photographer comes in. A clean background and good lighting is no longer sufficient. What you also need, is a great facial expression! One that speaks the thousand words you want it to speak ...

There are some people who know exactly what to do in front of the camera to look amazing ... I've had the pleasure to meet a few. But they are few and far between. According to research, they only make up 7% of the population. The rest of us (including me) require a certain amount of coaching and direction. The good news is, that with the right coaching and direction, you also can look amazing. A good photographer will know exactly what to do and how to do it, to capture not only the best photographs you've ever had, but ones that will work for you!

So with all this said, it's time for you to book a headshot photo session and take that profile picture to the next level. Click here to send me a message.
